FAQs
Q: What is changing in the Matter update?
A: In this update, we have separated tasks from matters with distinct tabs in the sidebar. This will make it easier to view open tasks related to all Legal Artifacts and properly categorize Matters.
Additionally, we will only have two different Matter statuses (Open and Closed), while the tasks and subtasks will continue to have four different statuses (To Do, Pending, In Progress, and Open)
Q: Will the details of my existing Matters be available in the update?
A: Yes, all existing details and data will be migrated over. Open Matters associated with specific modules, like Taxes or Licenses, will be accessible within those respective modules. Open matters with "Entity Management" or "Other Legal" will be found in Tasks.
If you find an open Matter listed in the Tasks tab, please tag it with "MIGRATE TO MATTERS." Once you have tagged all matters that need to be moved, please inform your Account Manager, and we will migrate them.
Q: How will this affect my existing Intake Work Flows?
A: This update should not affect existing Intake Flows. However, you will now have the ability to mark an Intake Flow as confidential, meaning only the collaborator and the assignees will see the intake in their inbox. Also, you can pre-assign an Intake Flow to an Entity so it will be automatically attached when accepted.
Q: Where will the existing tasks associated with a Matter be listed?
A: Any task or subtask of an open Matter can be accessed in the Task tab with all relevant details or within the original Legal Artifact.
Q: Who can create and update Practice Areas?
A: Currently, only Admins can create or update Practice Areas. The Practice Area tab will not be visible if a user is not an Admin.
Q: Can I delete existing practice areas?
A: An Admin can delete Practice Areas that are not currently used or have been used in the past. If a Practice Area is currently in use, the name can be updated, and all open matters will be updated as well. If a practice area is not currently in use but was used in the past, you can make the Practice Area "Disabled" to remove it from your drop-down list.
